Whatever, forget it. I have a question for the people who've lived here longer than me. What kind of escape attempts have already happened here? [Hiccup haaaaasn't exactly been up to showing his face around the village recently. He's been dodgy at school and hasn't even gone into the smithy since the experiment ended--which was a real shame. He had things he wanted to work on, but showing up there now just was not appealing at all. He knows he has to face it eventually, but he'll put that off for now.

But he's run out of books to read at home, and he's dying to get his hands on a new stack. So he decides to make a quick trip to the library.

...And oh great, just his luck. Ed is there. So Hiccup is just going to not-so-gracefully slink around a shelf and maybe sort of hide there. In the mean time, he'll hold up a Very Large Book to hide his face.

It's sort of weird to think of this as the most successful, but there was the one incident before the barrier started to expand. That wasn't the doing of any of the residents though.

I forget if it's in the guide or not... basically, a lot of weird things culminated all at once due to Malnosso error with the barrier and probably some Shifting tech. As a result, some people got sent home for one day, powers returned, wings got messed with... and then in the aftermath of it we got that desert which would later flood to make the ocean we were at.

[...] Anyway, I say that's the closest to getting "out" due to the going home for a little while thing. [...] At least I think people did, that was a long time ago.

[ for once, he's not joining his brother in research mania. al's been... doing some thinking since they returned from the beach trip. Trying to dig up information on the time he was here previously, finding out if what Winry said was actually true... but he hasn't had much luck yet.
