[A series of separate journal entries would have been posted over the course of several days; Edward will have a somewhat sporadic response time for them, too. He might respond for a few hours and then not until the day following the entry ICly anyway-- I'll be tagging it normally 8|, since the cryptic commentary in each day's entry hints at how he's messed up the journal to see how (and how soon) it fixes itself the next day. Therefore he won't have a journal to respond unless he steals Al's.

Day 1 - Monday

I don't miss that idiot colonel, but his alchemy would come in handy in this place. At least Al showed up after I did, so the three of us from Resembool are here. Familiar faces make it easier, and if I can't escape easily I can at least keep myself occupied.

My goal is to be out of here within a month.




Day 2 - Tuesday

Woke up at 7 this morning. The fireplace is out, so it's cold that early. I'm still tired; I feel like I could have slept for at least 15 hours. And why do kettles always take forever to boil? I just want some damn coffee before I go out to have a look around.

I don't think three spoonfuls of sugar is too much, either. It dissolves just fine if the water's warm enough.

Addendum from yesterday: A month is too long.




Day 3 - Wednesday

Al got me up an hour earlier today. It's warmer today- I went down by the river for a while. Saw a small flock of cranes, all with white feathers. I thought I'd see some markings, but maybe they disappear when they change into adults?

I counted maybe 16-30 of them. Moved too fast to be sure.




Day 4 - Thursday

Slept in till 9. Sleep schedule's been messed up since I got here. Why is it so inconsistent?

The flock from yesterday didn't show up again today, but there was a spotted chick in a nest by the bridge. A fox or something might've gotten the mother- there were a few torn feathers not far away. Maybe I'll come back tomorrow to check on it. Today I'm getting back to the library.

Addendum: I counted six books on birds alone. Zero on Alchemy. Do books appear here at random the way people do?



Day 5 - Friday

Wake-up was 7 again today. Al, just let me sleep in tomorrow. I'm going further down the river this afternoon, but there's nothing new to see right now. Still no mother at the nest, but the chick is fine, so I guess it's okay.

I'll look into this more later.

Monday- Edward is at home, since Winry expected him to be around so he could be introduced to Haruhi. And he's kind of wondering if Al needs to be around for the very same thing, but it hadn't been mentioned to him...

Well, none of his business.

Tuesday-Friday - he'll be out and about in the village if you'd rather just bump into him at the locations mentioned.]

[Well, Greed claims that he doesn't lie. Edward studies him for a moment, then shrugs it off dismissively.]

Fine, fine, then then send Ling back out. I want to talk to him.

You met Greed before? [In Ling's mind, there is no 'first' or 'second' Greed. They're the same person, lost memories or not.]

He was looking for a way to become immortal too, actually. He kidnapped Al to try and learn the secrets of soul transmutation, so we fought.

[Somewhere deep in side, Greed has a realization.

"I fought that little punk before?"

Only now... it's starting to come back to him. Fragments, at least. Nothing concrete, but it's all connected to that battle with Wrath...]

[Ling winces just a bit, putting a head to his head, as if he's going to lose balance. Greed's spotty memories isn't something that's particularly pleasant.]

King Bradley- no, Wrath. He was there too, wasn't he?

[Edward takes a step forward as Ling wavers, his lips pursing at his comment.]

I thought he didn't remember the old Greed's life...

[One hand suddenly hardens into a claw, his demeanor shifts again, this time to fury. Sup Greed. He's this close to grabbing Ed by the collar.]

What I remembered wasn't any of your damn business, kid. Why didn't you mention this before!?

[Edward grimaces, his automail hand tensing at his side. He's ready to clap and transmute at a moment's notice, but he'd rather avoid fighting Ling if he can.]

What did you expect? The last time we tried to tell you we knew you, you dismissed it. If you were interested, you should have asked!

[Dammit, he hadn't even thought of that before. But even then, it hadn't mattered. Not until now, when Edward's face was mixed in with his chimeras.]

Just tell me one thing. Were you the one who led Wrath to the hideout?

[The idea of him working with Bradley to kill all of Greed's chimeras? Ugh. That's just insulting.]

We had nothing to do with the military's intervention! I tracked you down on my own to find Al. They must have done the same thing!

[He makes a face at that. It makes it sound like it's his fault for kidnapping Al. Maybe it was. But he didn't like thinking about it.]

Good. You wouldn't be much of an alchemist if you went crying to the military every time something happened.

Shut up, you know I've cut ties with them just like you cut ties with your old allies.

[It's a sore subject and he feels no need to talk about it. He turns to start to leave, waving a dismissive hand. He's also not keen on leaving Ling here to just sit around and talk about it.]

[Edward starts to follow, feeling annoyed. That's it? He shows up for a few minutes and now he's taking off?]

[He keeps on talking. Yeah, he knows Ed is following, but he doesn't look back.]

...Tch. [Edward stops in mid-step, glancing aside with a scowl.] Fine, if you're going to act like that.

[The homunculus can be such kids sometimes, geez.

...Well... he can't really blame Greed. He's probably dealing with a lot of unpleasant memories, especially if he remembers that time. Maybe Ling can talk some sense of him, since they're apparently working more in unison now.]
