[The journal clicks on, and bright smiling face comes into view. With two fingers up in a peace scene, Winry greets anyone who might be viewing.]

Hello, this is Winry Rockbell! I'm a mechanic and engineer specializing in prosthetic limbs, and the current Co-Owner of your very own local Smithy!

[With that she pans over so the journal gets a shot of the Smithy. Sitting on it's steps is a not-so-happy alchemist.]

We at the smithy are here to help you with plenty of your needs. Whether you need makeshift kevlar, a wheelchair, or even a bike we're here to help. We also have a weapons section, but that's not my department. And instead of showing you my old commissions I mentioned, today I will be showing you some new stuff I engineered. Most of it will be automail related, but don't worry! I can probably make some of this stuff separate too. Come on Ed, let's do some demonstrations.

[He doesn't budge, looking reluctant.]

Do I have to?

Yes! You said you would. You promised. [She emphasizes this by putting the hand not holding the journal on her hip.]

...Fine.

( tl;dr wacky demonstrations )

Ed and Winry will both be on the journal in a bit and available for commentary... or they can be found just outside the smithy, trying to get Edward detached from the roof (and probably bickering about it). They'll figure it out eventually, nothing to worry about.

Later, Edward will be on his own. He hasn't forgotten the date, and even the lightheartedness of the afternoon's antics haven't made the words "October 3rd" leave his mind, merely push it to the back for a while. The whole point of carving the date into his watch was so he'd always remember, after all. This year, however, he's in something of a unique situation; Alphonse isn't around, but his mother is, and he has a house here that... essentially has become a home. Which is the whole reason for remembering the date in the first place- so he wouldn't stop his journey and go home before he's reached his goals. But... technically he's done that now. He knows how the story ends, even if his body doesn't match the memory.

Tradition and habit are difficult things to give up, though, so first he goes to his parents' house, mostly to bum around and give his mom the most inexplicable hug imaginable. Then he'll be outside House 23, doing his usual October-3rd bonfire. Feel free to visit and hang out.]

((joint post! action/voice for the first part will be replied to by both ed + winry, action for the second part will be ed-only.))

comments

[Voice/Action] this is the latest goddamn post

[It’s an abnormally quiet household for Edward and Winry today, now that the third member of their family is gone, and while he’d be content to keep his misery to himself in any other situation, this particular little person has made a huge impact in enough lives that it needs to be shared. So...]

Hey, Edward here. For everyone who knew her, Elicia Hughes was sent home.

[Locked to Sheena, Tony, Katniss, and Law]

There was some stuff here left for you, if you want to swing by sometime and pick it up.

[Ed’s going to be hanging around the house for most of the day, though by late afternoon he’ll be going to the Battle Dome to basically destroy everything he can get away with in the simulations until he drags himself home or is otherwise kicked out. In the evening, however, he's actually going to swing by the bar. Not for drinking, necessarily, it just seems like the place to go when you want to wallow.

He's only just finished his second year in Luceti, and this happens? Yeah, this week totally sucks.]

(ooc: wow like a million apologies for the lateness of this. If anyone has ICly acknowledged Elicia going home previously <strike>since this is seriously like three weeks late</strike> I apologize extra for that, but otherwise we’re assuming this week is a good time for it.
[Voice/Action] sorta backdated...?

[Friends of Edward Elric might have noticed that he hasn’t been around lately; he’s in jail. Though unlike most criminals, it’s an imprisonment of his own creation, or at least his own choice. In his current condition - possessed by a homunculus, that is - the tunnel is the only place he can be himself until this whole issue is dealt with, and ever since Winry, Sokka, and the village’s local Avatars had managed to trap him there, he’s been nose-deep in alchemy books and notes of his own making, trying to figure out a method of getting rid of Pride. It’s tricky, especially without Dr. Marco’s entire formula or Alphonse to guide him, but he’d determined to reach the answer. Otherwise he’ll have no choice but to ask the Malnosso for help (if they even would) or spend the rest of his Luceti life underground. Neither are great options.

His brief escape from the tunnels during the draft had been eye-opening to just how easy it would be for Pride to accidentally be set free, however, whether by his own mistake or the interference of the Malnosso, since it was their fault this had happened in the first place. He’d rather not risk this happening again. It had been hard enough to trap Pride here, and doing it again would be a nightmare. Reluctant as he is, he knows that it’s time to go public.]

...Hey, Edward Elric here. Those who know me might remember that I supposedly came back from an abduction on January 30th. That’s... not exactly true. What came back wasn’t me, even if it was an accurate enough replication for not many people to notice.

This ‘other me’ is dangerous. Until it’s dealt with, I’ll be in the tunnels keeping it under control- it’s powerless there, so as long as I stay underground then I’m safe to be around. But I need help.

Not gonna ask for much- but if you notice any books about alchemy or homunculus in the library, I’d appreciate it if you could bring it to me. You can also take it to Winry Rockbell or Sokka at the smithy if you don’t feel like coming into the tunnels. Can’t blame you if you’d prefer not to do that.

Thanks for your time.

[And true to his word, Edward will be in the tunnels - he’s been there as of March 21st, besides his brief absence during the draft itself, so anyone can visit him between then and now, as well as the next week or so. Open post is open!]

comments

[When Edward Elric wakes up in the middle of the forest after his kidnapping, he is not quite himself. Outwardly, of course, there is no change- he looks a little more tired, perhaps, as if he's been sleeping poorly, and it seems like he hasn't eaten well for the past month. If asked, he'll complain about a seemingly perpetual hunger that no amount of food seems to satisfy.

Beyond the physical sense, however, he's not Edward at all. Not that he'll let anyone else know about it. There's a homunculus in control of his body, tied by a twisted bloodline, with a maelstrom of wailing voices in the back of his mind, one he's grown so used to over the course of several hundred years that it's nothing but a dull background noise now. With one additional voice that just happens to be louder than all of the others-

"You bastard! You bastard, Pride, give me back my body!! You think I'm going to sit here quietly while you use me like this!? You can't just take over!! You can't shut me up, dammit!!"

But even with all that shouting, all that effort... it's still nothing more than just that: background noise. And he can ignore it, as long as it takes. Homunculi are skilled at such things.

Still- he lingers in the woods for a while, considering his next step. Separated from Amestris and Father, no goals to be met, no Promised Day of which to ensure the successful passage, no allies to speak of, and a new body to which he needs to adjust. Fullmetal has friends here, people who would fight him if they knew the truth. And as strong as he is, he can't fight off an entire village of powerful fighters.

The alternative is obvious, and not, he assumes, difficult. He's spent more than fifty years pretending to be a young child; a teenage alchemist shouldn't be that hard.

When he finally makes it into the village, his first step is not to head back to his own house. Truth be told, he's not certain where that house is. His priority instead is getting himself a good meal, and for his current stomach, that means ordering a lot. So "Edward" can be found in Seventh Heaven for most of the afternoon, eating enough food to fill about five people, minimum. With a bit of directional help, he'll be heading to the smithy to look for Winry, then home itself. He can be pestered in any of those locations, in the woods, or in the village somewhere on the way. He's been gone for a month, so his sudden return is something to celebrate, right...?]

(ooc: like the post says, Ed's basically shifted to an AU where Pride took over his body in volume 26 of his canon. This means that his body is that of a human-based homunculus, and has the strengths and weaknesses of Pride and (to a lesser extent) Gluttony. The journal prided may occasionally be used for special icons, but he'll be keeping his true identity on the down-low as much as possible. If your character can sense multiple souls or other such things, please contact me! It would suck to spoil the surprise to everyone before it's time |D)

comments

[October 3rd again. Don't forget. This marks the second time he's hit this date in Luceti, and the first time in his life since carving the words upon his pocket watch that he's met it without Alphonse. That's probably what hurts the most, this time. No closer to getting home, no closer to regaining their bodies, even though he knows that he's only a day away from victory when he goes home. The second worst part is that he's only one day past an experiment that stole those memories from him- that he had, in fact, forgotten. Hadn't even known what the watch or the date upon it even meant.

Tch... stupid place. For the first time in a while, he hates it again.

He's going to keep up with the annual tradition anyway, for Al's sake as much as his, so tonight at the back of House #23, some time after dinner, Edward will be seated at a campfire, occasionally tossing logs into the flames, with a collection of snacks, some books, and notebook paper piled around him to get some work done. He'll be there all night, so any nighthawks or curious passerbys are free to stop in and see what's up.]

comments

[It's been a few days since Gracia was sent home, and Edward has suddenly found himself to be in something of an awkward position: without her primary caregiver around, Elicia needs somebody to watch her. Winry is the logical choice, but she actually has a job, so she can't be around all the time. It's true that he keeps himself busy, but the truth is that most of his time is eaten up with studying, trips back and forth to the library, and keeping himself fit. The library and exercise business can be done with a kid around, no problem, but to study he kind of needs... you know, quiet. And Elicia is a self-starter, but you can't just leave kids unsupervised for hours and hours. It's irresponsible.

So now he's... what, a stay-at-home dad until school starts?

Crap.]

[Voice / Filtered from Elicia]

Hey, uh... a couple questions. What're some good ways to keep a little kid entertained? And... you know, if you've got any advice for caring for one in general, I'll take it. It's not something I've really done that much...

And the other question is- are there any trustworthy babysitters around? In case- ...yeah.

Thanks in advance.

[ooc: going out, tags will come when I return c:]

comments

[Talk about one hell of a morning. Waking up to the draft is bad enough, though truth be told he's kind of grateful for the distraction. But when Edward goes to visit his father's room to fill him in on the news in case he's unaware, he finds it empty, lacking any sign of the man ever living there. He stands in the doorway for a long moment, mulling over how exactly he's supposed to feel about this, then opts to push those feelings aside, shutting the door behind himself and returning to his own room. After the draft, he'll start packing; he isn't sure where he'll go just yet, but he knows that he won't be staying in this house anymore. There's... nothing left for him here. The last of his family is gone.

In his room, he goes to his journal, scrawling out a quick filter directed at his superior, but it fails. He frowns, tries again, only to get the same result. He has no idea where the colonel lives, but the malfunction seems to be answer enough about what's happened.

So. Moving on. Stubbornly he stuffs the journal into his coat pocket, shrugging it on and heading over to the house across the street, to check on the Hughes' family. With Elicia on the draft as well, certain things will need to be discussed. Unfortunately, more bad news will await him once he reaches the door.

All three. All three of them in one day, just... gone.

It isn't until later on that he finally returns to the journal, this time with a public announcement.]

Van Hohenheim, Roy Mustang, and... Maes Hughes... have all returned to their world. Just wanted to let everyone know.

If anyone's looking for a sparring partner to get ready for the draft, I'll be at the Battle Dome. Second room, assuming it's open.

[And true to his word, that's where he'll be for most of the afternoon; the rest of the day will be spent at the Hughes' house trying to help what's left of his (extended) family deal with this painfully familiar loss. He can be found at any of the locations mentioned and will be seeking out certain friends and castmates.]

comments

[...One year already. The thought occurs to Edward rather suddenly, as he browses through the private journal he's kept on him since his arrival, cataloguing significant changes, arrivals and departures, important dates... height chart. (Shut up, he's allowed to be shallow about that.) It's easy to recognize the rises and falls of his moods- when people were kidnapped or sent back, when the home he'd lived in had experienced some sort of turmoil and he'd felt it via association. When he and Al had reached roadblocks and breakthroughs. When Mom had come.

There hadn't been any notes made when she and Al had left. He hadn't had the heart, and he'd never forget those dates anyway.

One year, though- one year, and he's made an astonishing amount of progress. He's gotten new automail, he's trained more, his alchemy is better than ever. He's learned some alkahestry. ...Sort of. He's sometimes even talked to his father like a human being instead of a bundle of hate and resentment all the time. And, more importantly, he's gone home and survived the Promised Day. He's achieved everything he'd set out to do after he and Al had failed to transmute their mother. And he's happy about it, obviously- ecstatic, overjoyed, victorious.

On the other hand... he's unsure. Because it raises a lot of questions about what the future will hold for him, what he wants to do with the rest of his life. And if he were to be completely honest about it, this is the first time in his life since he was five that he hasn't had a clear goal he wanted to accomplish.

That kind of freedom is almost terrifying.]

...Hey. If you couldn't do what you're doing right now - for a job, career, whatever - what would you want to do with your life instead?

comments

[ooc: with Erin's permission Trisha's departure from Luceti has been delayed until now.]

[There really is no way to describe the feeling of waking up to find your dead mother has vanished- to find that she has, in fact, been sent home to death once again. There's denial at first, fear, anger, a lot of yelling. A few walls get punched, resulting in dents and fist-shaped holes. No tears, though. Never tears. That much hasn't changed.

And then, later, with the camera covered, written somewhat shakily:]

Trisha Elric's gone back.

[Not home. Not to her world. Not to her family or- or anything.

And Edward doesn't really want to talk to anyone right now, so he'll spend pretty much the rest of the day holed up in the house, mostly in his room. The journal will be ignored, and while visitors might not feel welcome, there are certain people he wouldn't tell to go away right now.]

comments

[Late on the night of the 1st, Edward returns from yet another mission, though this time it was combat-related, so he's walking a bit cautiously with a slight limp on his left side. His first stop is House 22, to visit the previously-next-door doctor. After that it's home, and while he does try to sneak in, Al's probably still awake and home anyway. He will, however, be out of bed before noon and at the breakfast table come morning. Acting like nothing at all is wrong, naturally!

During the course of the day, though, he has a couple of visits to make. One of them is the smithy, since he fully expects to have missed Winry at her house in the morning, though if he doesn't find her at work he'll pop by her place later. Another visit is to Ling's apartment, for a conversation that's probably long overdue. Finally, he'll be heading home for a rather serious chat with a certain father figure he has yet to be able to call "Dad".

Anyone's free to bump into him at any time or place, otherwise. He'll be out and about for most of the day.]

comments

[FOURTH WALL JOINT POST]

[Taking a slice of the MasaRoxy pie, this is a fourth wall for all of mine. So:

ASCH will be hanging around Building 2, either just outside the door or watching the chaos through his open window.

EDWARD will be wandering the village, keeping an eye out for familiar faces.

ZACK is in Good Spirits, trying to help Buffy and Shizuo with crowd control.

SUKI is around the plaza, now and then checking on poor Sokka in the smithy.

MIKAGE is everywhere. And jumping on peoples' heads.

GO FORTH AND BOTHER? Might help to mention who, unless it's obvious/a castmate, or I can throw whoever I feel like at you.]

comments

[Voice / Action] backdated to JANUARY 13th

[...So it's been a week. A full week since his parents had shown up in Luceti. And as of today, with the last bit of furniture in place, he and Al are officially "moved in". At least, in the sense of physically living there. Edward still finds himself looking out the window an awful lot and double-taking at the house number across the street, and at least three times now he's turned to approach the door of the Hughes' household instead of his own. He hasn't barged in unintentionally yet, at least. That would have been awfully embarrassing.

He's still not sure how he feels about this... home life. Thing. Adjustment is one thing, but actually coming to expect his mother's smiling face when he walks through the front door? It's a little scary. Wonderful in a lot of ways, but...

And that's not even getting into the issue of living so close to Hohenheim for this long, something he hasn't done since early childhood. And despite promising to give the man a chance, their relationship is tenuous at best, violent at its worst. He's still not calling the man "father", either. And there's poor Al in the middle, still stuck in his wheelchair... dammit...

Well, let's just say he's in desperate need of some distraction. So after giving it some thought, he turns to the journal-]

Hey, got a question for anyone listening out there-

I was talking to this kid a while back - Aoba - and something came up. Do we have some kind of directory of all the worlds people are from? I don't mean that world sharing class, I mean actual maps of all the different worlds, or countries within those worlds, or whatever.

Because if there isn't, then I'd like to make one. So if you wanna get involved, talk about where you're from here- show a map, gimme an idea of what it's like. I'll take what I can get.

[A little while later, he'll be venturing to his usual hotspots- the library, for some books for poor Al to read, and the Battle Dome, to take out some of his pent-up frustrations (and to duke it out with a few of the homunculus for kicks), then to the shops for a bit of perusing. He can be pestered around down at any time, looking uncharacteristically unsure, though he's been looking that way all week, so at this point it may not be anything new.

Eventually he'll return home to his family some time before dinner, carrying with him (in addition to Al's books) a toolbox, a bag containing some clothes, and a collection of sticky buns for dessert/snacking-

...but not before barging into the Hughes house accidentally. Apparently there really is a first time for everything.]

comments
